New York City FC equalized in the 17th minute with a goal from Nicolás Fernandez. Despite Messi’s attempts hitting the post twice in the first half, the score remained 1-1. The home team took the lead in the 59th minute through a goal from Agustin Ojeda.
Messi equalized for Inter Miami in the 61st minute with a free-kick goal, bringing his tally to four for the season. Micael then scored the winning goal in the 74th minute with a header, assisted by Allen. Inter Miami’s defense held firm, with key blocks from Ayala and a crucial save by St. Clair securing the 3-2 victory.
Inter Miami will next play at home against Austin FC on April 4 for their first match at Nu Stadium.
