The International Kite Festival in Gujarat showcased professional kitists welcoming Prime Minister Narendra Modi and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz at the Sabarmati riverfront. Thematic and patriotic kites, especially those featuring images of PM Modi and Operation Sindoor, attracted significant attention. The festival’s inauguration witnessed PM Modi flying special-themed kites, adding to the festive spirit.
According to kite makers, the theme-based and patriotic kites aim to foster patriotism and national pride among participants. These kites, crafted using modern technology and high-quality materials, have garnered admiration. Notably, a kite themed after PM Modi, created nearly eight years ago, was flown by him during his visit to Indonesia in 2018, symbolizing the friendship between India and Indonesia.
Endang from the Indonesian Kite Museum in Jakarta shared that the kite took about a week to make and involved intricate craftsmanship. The kite themed ‘Operation Sindoor’ also drew significant attention, with Praveen Kumar from Rajasthan expressing pride in PM Modi flying their creation. Varun Chadha, a member of the Indian kite team, highlighted the electrifying atmosphere during PM Modi’s presence, describing the event as highly successful with immense public enthusiasm.
