Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi criticized the recent US attacks on Iran, stating that they have nullified the ceasefire agreed upon in April. During a call with European Union foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas, Araghchi denounced the US actions as a blatant breach of the United Nations Charter and international law. He held the US accountable for the potential hazardous outcomes resulting from the attacks, as reported by Xinhua news agency.
The US Central Command confirmed launching additional strikes on various Iranian targets in response to what they termed as Iran’s unwarranted and ongoing aggression. These strikes targeted Iranian military surveillance capabilities, communication systems, and air defense sites across Iran, using precision munitions from Marine Corps, Air Force, and Navy assets to eliminate threats to US forces and international commercial ships in the region.
In retaliation, Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters declared the closure of the Strait of Hormuz to all vessels, including oil tankers and commercial ships. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran also announced retaliatory strikes on US bases in Jordan, Kuwait, and Bahrain following the US military actions. US President Donald Trump, in response, threatened further military measures against Iran and suggested the possibility of seizing control of key Iranian oil infrastructure. Trump’s statements came after US forces disabled a third commercial tanker accused of breaching Washington’s blockade against Tehran.
