Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan has emphasized the importance of handling young batting talent Vaibhav Sooryavanshi with care. Sooryavanshi, who is under 15 years old, has already achieved significant success in his cricket career, notably setting a record as the fastest Indian to score a century in the IPL. He was recently retained by Rajasthan Royals for the upcoming IPL season.
Pathan stressed the need for Sooryavanshi to remain grounded and not be swayed by either success or failure at his tender age. With a potentially long professional career ahead, Pathan highlighted the significance of having a reliable mentor to guide Sooryavanshi, drawing parallels to Rahul Dravid’s supportive role in the past.
Additionally, Pathan advised Sooryavanshi to continuously enhance his skills to stay ahead of opponents who may strategize against him. He pointed out the challenges that Sooryavanshi might face in terms of varied bowling techniques and emphasized the importance of adapting and finding ways to score effectively in different scenarios.
Former cricketer Aakash Chopra echoed similar sentiments, cautioning Sooryavanshi to balance his aggressive approach with consistency, especially in the high-pressure environment of the IPL. Chopra highlighted the need for Sooryavanshi to maintain composure and adapt to the demands of the competitive league, emphasizing the expectations and pressure that come with performing at such a level.
