Sutapa Sikdar, the wife of the late actor Irrfan Khan, shared that they never marked Valentine’s Day as Irrfan considered it absurd. She mentioned that this decision not only saved them money but also shielded them from unwanted attention. Sutapa emphasized that their choice was not driven by fear but by their own preference.

She expressed that if their sons opt to celebrate Valentine’s Day, she would honor their decision. Sutapa humorously suggested gifting organic vegetables from their farm for the occasion. Reflecting on how Irrfan might have responded, she playfully recounted a scenario with their son’s reaction to the idea.

Irrfan Khan tied the knot with Sutapa, his fellow NSD graduate, on 23 February 1995. The couple was blessed with two sons, Babil and Ayan. Tragically, Irrfan succumbed to neuroendocrine cancer in April 2020 at the age of 53.
