India’s cricketer Ishan Kishan has expressed his support for Carlos Alcaraz to win the men’s singles final at the Australian Open 2026, comparing Alcaraz’s playing style to that of Indian cricketers. Kishan praised Alcaraz’s attacking approach and fearless shot-making, emphasizing the similarities with Indian cricket’s aggressive gameplay. He highlighted Alcaraz’s quick decision-making and eagerness to capitalize on opportunities as key strengths that could lead him to victory against Novak Djokovic.

Kishan believes that Alcaraz’s aggressive nature and ambition to claim his first Australian Open title make him a promising contender, especially in a high-pressure match against Djokovic. He expressed his desire for Alcaraz to emerge victorious in the final, emphasizing the significance of this potential milestone in Alcaraz’s career. Kishan’s endorsement of Alcaraz stems from his belief in the young Spaniard’s potential and exciting style of play.

In contrast to Kishan’s support for Alcaraz, Indian fast bowler Arshdeep Singh has voiced his backing for Novak Djokovic in the title clash. Referring to Djokovic as “Iceman,” Singh expressed his preference for the seasoned champion to triumph in the Australian Open final. The upcoming match between Alcaraz and Djokovic sets the stage for a compelling showdown between two generations of tennis stars, each pursuing significant milestones in their careers.

The Australian Open final presents a captivating narrative as Alcaraz and Djokovic vie for victory, with both players aiming to achieve historic accomplishments. Alcaraz, at 22 years old, stands on the brink of completing a rare career Grand Slam, having already secured titles at the French Open, Wimbledon, and the US Open. His potential triumph in Melbourne would establish him as the youngest man to accomplish this feat, surpassing the record set by Rafael Nadal.

On the other side of the court, Djokovic seeks to solidify his status as the most successful Grand Slam player in tennis history, irrespective of gender. A win in the final would secure Djokovic’s 25th Grand Slam title, surpassing Margaret Court’s record of 24 major singles titles. The highly anticipated final is scheduled to take place at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne on Sunday, promising a thrilling conclusion to the tournament.

Meanwhile, Ishan Kishan and Arshdeep Singh delivered standout performances for India in the fifth T20I at Greenfield Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. Kishan’s impressive century knock of 103 runs and Arshdeep’s five-wicket haul were instrumental in India’s 46-run victory over New Zealand, showcasing their exceptional skills and contributions to the team’s success.
