Ladakh lost the Khelo India Winter Games ice-hockey gold to ITBP women at the Nawang Dorjay Stobdan Stadium. In a close game, ITBP scored early in extra time after a 1-1 tie in regulation. Ladakh’s men, however, secured the bronze in a hard-fought 3-2 victory.
The Ladakh men’s team, after a surprising loss in the semifinals, showed determination in their final match. Ladakh initially led the game with a goal by Shamina Khatoon, but ITBP’s Stanzin Dolkar equalized, forcing extra time. Dolkar then scored the winning goal, securing victory for ITBP.
With this win, ITBP ensured they did not leave the Games empty-handed. Haryana leads the medal tally with 4 golds, followed by Ladakh with two golds. Telangana also holds two golds but fewer silvers than Ladakh.
Telangana’s Nayana Sri Talluri clinched her second consecutive gold in short-course skating, outperforming Ladakh’s Skarma Tsultim. Nayana’s strategic approach helped her secure the gold, with Maharashtra’s Anvayee Deshpande taking silver.
Maharashtra claimed their first gold through Ishaan Darvekar’s victory in the men’s 1000m short track. Karnataka’s Srivatsa S Rao also shone, winning the men’s 1000m long track ice skating event.
