Andrew Moss, Executive Director of the International Tennis Federation (ITF) World Tennis Tour & Data Rights, visited Bengaluru for the ongoing ITF Women’s Open W100 Bengaluru 2026. He expressed optimism about India’s tennis future, citing the country’s rich tennis history and vast potential in skill development. Moss highlighted collaborative efforts with Indian tennis bodies to enhance the game’s growth.
During his visit, Moss engaged with officials from the Karnataka State Lawn Tennis Association (KSLTA) to explore bringing more ITF World Tennis Tour events to Bengaluru. The discussions aimed at providing additional opportunities for Indian players and strengthening the local tennis infrastructure.
Impressed by the SM Krishna Tennis Stadium, Moss commended the facilities and expressed excitement about the tournament. He emphasized the significance of the World Tennis Tour in nurturing players from junior levels to the professional circuit, underscoring the importance of hosting tournaments globally.
The SM Krishna Tennis Stadium in Bengaluru has recently hosted prestigious events like the Billie Jean King Cup Play-offs and the Davis Cup Qualifiers Round 1. Moss highlighted the role of international team competitions in fueling interest in tennis, citing India’s performance in the Davis Cup Qualifiers as a prime example. He emphasized the positive impact of such events on fostering tennis enthusiasm in emerging nations.
