The International Tech Park Bangalore (ITPB) has unveiled the ‘ITPB Metro Skywalk’, linking Pattandur Agrahara Metro Station (Purple Line) directly to ITPB and Park Square Mall. This initiative aims to enhance commuting convenience for over 55,000 IT professionals by facilitating smoother transitions between metro services, the business park, and the mall.
Spanning 320 feet in length and standing 24 feet above the road, the ITPB Metro Skywalk is designed to optimize pedestrian and vehicular movement within the bustling ITPB hub. By providing a direct path from the metro station to the IT park and mall, this elevated bridge eliminates the need for road crossings, ensuring a safer and more efficient commute for both pedestrians and motorists.
The skywalk features amenities such as smooth ramps, elevators, and wide walkways to ensure accessibility for all individuals, including those with mobility challenges. Subramanya Gudge, Project and Planning Director of Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), highlighted the significance of this public-private collaboration in enhancing last-mile connectivity and improving the overall commuter experience.
Gauri Shankar Nagabhushanam, CEO of CapitaLand India Trust, emphasized the importance of the Metro Skywalk in ensuring the safety of commuters, motorists, and the wider Whitefield community. Such pedestrian linkages between metro stations and key activity centers play a vital role in enhancing metro accessibility, promoting the use of public transport, and supporting sustainable urban mobility in Bengaluru.
