Jaguar Land Rover India has announced significant price reductions for its top-end Range Rover models, cutting prices by up to Rs 75 lakh. The price cuts apply to the completely built unit (CBU) models imported from the UK, with the most substantial changes seen in the high-end SV portfolio.
The Range Rover SV’s price has been adjusted from Rs 4.25 crore to Rs 3.5 crore (ex-showroom), while the Range Rover Sport SV now starts at Rs 2.35 crore, down from Rs 2.75 crore. These revised prices are a reflection of the anticipated changes under the new duty structure once the India-UK Free Trade Agreement is implemented.
Effective immediately, the new prices demonstrate the company’s confidence in the agreement’s forthcoming implementation. Managing Director Rajan Amba emphasized that the company is proactively passing on the expected benefits of the trade deal to its customers. The updated pricing strategy aims to make the premium SV range more accessible to potential buyers, aligning with JLR India’s customer-centric approach.
Amba highlighted that the revised prices are a result of the new duty structure facilitated by the Free Trade Agreement and will be applicable without delay. The company anticipates that the trade agreement will enhance the appeal of its aspirational portfolio and bolster its growth trajectory in India’s luxury car market.
While the prices of locally manufactured models like Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Range Rover Evoque, Range Rover Velar, and Discovery Sport will remain unaffected, the company clarified that models such as Defender and Discovery, produced in Slovakia, will not see any price changes as they are not covered by the India-UK trade agreement.
