The India Meteorological Department’s Jaipur Meteorological Centre has issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms and rain in various districts of Rajasthan. Strong winds up to 70 kmph are expected during this period.
Over the last 24 hours, reports have emerged of winds, rains, and storms from different parts of the state. Light to moderate rainfall, along with thunderstorms and squalls, was observed at isolated locations across Rajasthan.
The highest rainfall in the past day was recorded in Srimadhopur at 48 mm. Maximum temperatures have decreased in most regions, ranging between 39 to 41 degrees Celsius, below the usual levels for this time of year.
Thunderstorms, rain, and hailstorm activity persisted across Rajasthan, with districts like Sikar, Dausa, Kotputli-Behror, Alwar, and Hanumangarh experiencing heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and hail. Strong winds caused tree uprooting and damage to temporary structures in various areas.
The sudden weather change in the state has brought relief, with temperatures in many cities dropping below 40 degrees Celsius. In Manpur (Dausa district), heavy rain and hailstorms disrupted traffic for nearly an hour, while a fallen tree near the Jaipur-Agra National Highway caused a 40-minute blockage.
In Jaipur, a tree fell near the iconic Hawa Mahal, leading to traffic disruption. While eastern Rajasthan saw relief, western parts continued to face intense heat, with Phalodi recording the highest temperature at 44.8 degrees Celsius.
Most other western districts experienced minimal to no rainfall. The Meteorological Department forecasts unstable weather conditions in the coming days, with temperature fluctuations, light rainfall, and gusty winds expected in various parts of the state, offering intermittent relief from the heat.
