The weather in Jaipur took a sudden turn with dark clouds and gusty winds on Monday afternoon, creating storm-like conditions. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for rain and thunderstorms in six districts of Rajasthan on January 22 due to an active western disturbance.
The changing weather is attributed to an active western disturbance and an induced cyclonic circulation over northeast Rajasthan. Light to moderate fog is expected in isolated places over the next two days. Another strong western disturbance is forecasted between January 22 and 24, bringing rainfall and thunderstorms to parts of Jodhpur, Bikaner, Shekhawati, Jaipur, and Bharatpur divisions.
Poor visibility from fog disrupted traffic movement, with reports of light to dense fog across various districts. Minimum temperatures remained above 10 degrees Celsius in more than ten cities, with the lowest recorded at 6.1 degrees Celsius in Karauli. Maximum temperatures dropped in several regions, with clear skies in some divisions and partly cloudy conditions in others.
Due to cloud cover, minimum temperatures rose slightly in many districts. An incident involving an overturned 18-wheeler trailer loaded with garbage near the Sotanala flyover on National Highway-48 in the Kotputli–Behror district caused a traffic jam, suspected to be due to dense fog. Prompt response from Paniala police cleared the road without any reported injuries.
