External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar virtually transferred 72 health facilities and 12 cultural heritage projects to Nepal as part of the post-2015 earthquake Reconstruction program. This handover followed a meeting with Nepali Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal. Jaishankar announced this on social media platform X after the meeting.
During the meeting, a linkage between UPI India and Nepal’s National Payments Interface was jointly launched to facilitate cross-border personal remittances. Additionally, a memorandum of understanding was exchanged between Digital India Bhashini and Kathmandu University to create a National Digital Infrastructure for a ‘Voice First’ Language Translation platform for Nepal.
Emphasizing India’s commitment to Nepal’s progress and well-being, Jaishankar reiterated the dedication to mutual prosperity between the two nations. The leaders discussed various aspects of the India-Nepal partnership, including development cooperation, connectivity, energy, education, health, and culture. Jaishankar highlighted the special relationship between the two countries, built on shared traditions and trust.
