In a significant development, the Jalandhar Police Commissionerate has dismantled an organized crime network, as confirmed by Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav. Three individuals have been apprehended after the discovery of a hand grenade in Gurdaspur, Punjab. The police operation led to the arrest of four suspects and the seizure of eight sophisticated pistols, including a PX5 Pistol, a Zigana Pistol, and various other firearms, along with 45 live cartridges.
Preliminary investigations have uncovered connections between the arrested individuals and foreign-based handlers, who were also wanted in two murder cases. The Punjab police are actively pursuing further inquiries to uncover the full extent of the network and its operations. Director General Yadav emphasized the Punjab Police’s unwavering commitment to eradicating organized crime, illegal arms trafficking, and anti-national activities to maintain a secure state.
Gurdaspur Police, in collaboration with Punjab Counter Intelligence, have successfully resolved a case related to a hand grenade incident near Geeta Bhawan Road on April 27. Three suspects have been taken into custody in connection with the incident. Through a combination of technical inputs, CCTV footage, and human intelligence, the police identified the culprits responsible for the grenade attack. During the investigation, another hand grenade was found at the residence of one of the accused.
The preliminary probe indicates that the accused were following directives from a foreign-based handler and had received two hand grenades from this source. A case has been registered at PS City, Gurdaspur, under relevant sections of the UAPA and Explosive Substances Act. Authorities are actively pursuing leads to uncover the full network, including foreign handlers and local accomplices. Following recent explosions in Jalandhar and Amritsar, DGP Gaurav Yadav highlighted potential links to Pakistan’s ISI, suggesting a proxy war against Punjab on behalf of the country.
