Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, refuted claims made by the Opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that Urdu had been removed as the official language for revenue records and certain exams. Chief Minister Abdullah emphasized that there was no directive issued to drop Urdu and challenged the PDP to provide evidence of such an order. He clarified that while there was a proposal to remove Urdu, he had not approved it and had no intention to do so in the future.
Responding to allegations raised by Iltija Mufti during a recent press conference, Chief Minister Abdullah dismissed the accusations and assured that Urdu was not being marginalized by the government. The PDP has been critical of the government’s decisions, including the installation of electric meters to prevent power theft. Chief Minister Abdullah reiterated that Below Poverty Line families were entitled to 200 units of free electricity, countering the PDP’s claims.
