Jammu and Kashmir have won the toss and decided to bat first against Karnataka in the Ranji Trophy final at the KSCA Hubli Cricket Ground. This marks Jammu & Kashmir’s first-ever qualification for the Ranji Trophy, with the last team achieving this feat being MP in the 2021-22 season.
In this final, Paras Dogra-led Jammu & Kashmir are vying for their maiden title, while Devdutt Padikkal’s Karnataka team is aiming for their first championship in over a decade. Jammu & Kashmir’s only loss this season was to Mumbai by 35 runs in October, after which they have maintained a strong performance.
Karnataka faced a challenging season with ups and downs, especially after a heavy defeat to Madhya Pradesh post the white-ball leg pause. Despite setbacks, Karnataka managed to secure a spot in the final after overcoming obstacles like weather interruptions and tough competition from Punjab. Newly appointed captain Padikkal’s unbeaten 120 played a crucial role in their journey to the final.
