Jana Sena, led by party President Pawan Kalyan, secured two seats in Telangana’s municipal elections, marking a significant milestone for the party’s growth in its birthplace. Aruri Vijayalakshmi and Aggu Sagar emerged victorious as a councillor and a corporator, respectively, out of the 332 seats contested by the party. Vijayalakshmi won from Nereducharla Municipality in Nalgonda district, while Sagar was elected in Mancherial Municipal Corporation.
The party’s success in these elections is seen as a foundational step towards a promising future in Telangana, with Kalyan emphasizing the importance of small beginnings leading to significant outcomes. Notably, Jana Sena’s candidates secured the second position in five places and the third position in 47 wards, surpassing the top three parties in 16% of the contested wards.
Jana Sena, a part of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), independently fielded candidates in the municipal elections following the BJP’s decision not to form alliances. The party contested in 11 districts, with the highest number of candidates in Nizamabad district. The municipal elections, held on February 11, witnessed active campaigning by Pawan Kalyan, although a scheduled visit was canceled due to health reasons, sparking speculations.
