Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi is set to visit New Delhi from July 1 to 3 for the 16th India-Japan Annual Summit. This visit marks her first official trip to India since taking office and comes at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
During the summit, both countries will focus on enhancing their bilateral cooperation and addressing regional and global issues of mutual concern. The Ministry of External Affairs stated that the visit underscores the commitment to strengthen the India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership.
In a recent meeting during the G7 Summit in France, PM Modi and PM Takaichi discussed deepening ties, particularly in trade and investment sectors. The leaders reaffirmed the importance of the India-Japan partnership in promoting peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi also met with PM Modi in New Delhi to reinforce the significance of the India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership. Both sides are working on various initiatives in security, economy, innovation, and people-to-people exchanges to advance a strong and prosperous Indo-Pacific region.
India and Japan aim to achieve concrete outcomes in economic growth, investment, innovation, and economic security through their collaboration. The nations share a historic friendship based on cultural ties and a mutual commitment to a Free and Open Indo-Pacific vision.
