The Janata Dal (United), under the leadership of former Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, has revealed plans to extend its political reach into Punjab in preparation for the upcoming Assembly elections. Sanjay Kumar, the party’s state in-charge, emphasized the JD(U)’s commitment to offering a credible, development-focused, and people-centric political choice in Punjab. The party aims to introduce clean, transparent, and accountable governance that caters to the needs of the youth, farmers, entrepreneurs, and the general populace.
The JD(U) highlighted its expanding influence in various states such as Arunachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Manipur, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Assam, and Karnataka. It expressed confidence that its governance-centric approach would strike a chord with the people of Punjab. The party officially declared its intent to participate in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha elections and disclosed plans to fortify its presence through a grassroots campaign, unveiling its Punjab organizational structure.
A significant move was the establishment of the Punjab Pradesh Core Committee to drive the party’s growth in the state. Malvinder Singh was appointed President, with Gurpal Singh Hundal as Vice-President, I.S. Ahluwalia as Secretary General, Sanjiv Jha as General Secretary (Organisation), and Kanwar Singh Dhindsa as a key core leadership member. The party’s agenda is centered on issues like job creation, quality education, agricultural reforms, healthcare improvement, transparent governance, women’s empowerment, and social welfare, aiming to foster politics based on performance, accountability, and inclusive progress.
JD(U) also unveiled plans for a statewide membership campaign to engage with individuals across Punjab’s villages, towns, and cities, encouraging the involvement of youth, women, professionals, farmers, and civil society members who aspire to contribute to Punjab’s advancement.
