Jharkhand Police have successfully solved the case of the indiscriminate firing that caused panic in the Urimari police station area on December 31, 2025. Officials announced the arrest of 10 individuals belonging to the notorious Rahul Dubey gang. The police recovered several firearms and live cartridges from the suspects.
Addressing a press conference, Hazaribagh Superintendent of Police Anjani Anjan revealed that unidentified criminals had fired shots in the Urimari police station area, instilling fear among the residents. Subsequently, a case was filed against unknown persons at the Urimari Outpost police station.
Following initial investigations, it was discovered that the Rahul Dubey gang had claimed responsibility for the shooting incident. In response to the severity of the crime, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed under Sadar Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Amit Anand. The SIT conducted extensive operations utilizing technical inputs, mobile surveillance, and confidential intelligence.
Acting on specific intelligence received on Wednesday night, the police learned that a group of criminals had gathered near the Bagharaiya football ground in the Urimari Outpost area, allegedly planning another major criminal act. Upon confirmation of the information, law enforcement swiftly surrounded the area and conducted a raid, resulting in the apprehension of all 10 suspects.
During the search operation, law enforcement recovered five country-made pistols, 17 live cartridges, and six mobile phones believed to have been used in the firing incident. The arrested individuals, including Shiv Raja alias Shiva, Preet Kumar alias Pawan Kumar, and others, have a history of criminal activities such as extortion and firing in various Jharkhand districts. They have been remanded to judicial custody.
Meanwhile, the police have escalated their efforts to capture additional gang members. Further investigations are ongoing to uncover the broader network and criminal operations of the gang.
