MoS (PMO) and Lok Sabha member from J&K’s Udhampur constituency, Jitendra Singh, revealed plans for Udhampur’s progress. He announced the initiation of an ATR flight within six months, followed by the establishment of a full-fledged airport. Singh highlighted various key developments during a recent DISHA meeting. These include the commencement of the land transfer process for a civilian airport and the launch of tenders for an interim block to kickstart the ATR flight.

The Army Command Hospital in Udhampur will extend super-speciality medical services to civilians, enhancing healthcare accessibility. Additionally, a project to promote the traditional milk product ‘Kaladi’ through innovative recipes is underway. Lavender cultivation and road infrastructure upgrades are also part of the region’s development agenda.

Furthermore, connectivity improvements such as the Dhar Road upgradation and the nearing completion of the Express Road Corridor from Delhi to Katra were highlighted. Notably, an ambulance was donated to the Government Medical College, Udhampur, from the MP Fund. Singh, serving as the Minister of Science and Technology and Minister of Earth Sciences, has been actively involved in fostering Udhampur’s growth.
