The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau apprehended a revenue clerk in Budgam district for taking a bribe of Rs 10,000. The clerk, identified as Riyaz Ahmad Khan, was accused of demanding bribes for processing official documents unlawfully. Following a complaint, the ACB conducted a verification confirming the bribery demand.
An FIR was filed under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, and an investigation commenced. A trap operation was successful in catching the clerk red-handed while accepting the bribe. The accused was taken into custody after necessary legal procedures were completed.
Authorities mentioned that further investigations are ongoing to determine if the clerk had engaged in similar misconduct previously and to identify any potential accomplices.
