The Directorate General Resettlement (DGR) recently hosted a Job Fair for Ex-Servicemen (ESM) at Narangi Military Station in Guwahati. Over 50 corporate organizations participated, providing around 700 job opportunities spanning various sectors like logistics, manufacturing, security services, and administration. More than 700 ex-servicemen from Assam and neighboring regions attended, showcasing their skills and experiences to potential employers.
Corporate Guest of Honour Major (Retd) Rupam Talukadar and Military Guest of Honour Lt Gen Mohit Wadhwa, Sena Medal, graced the event. They highlighted the valuable qualities ex-servicemen bring to the corporate world, including integrity, adaptability, and leadership. Maj Gen S.B.K. Singh, Sena Medal, Director General of DGR, and Brig (Retd) Polash Choudhury, Sena Medal, Chairman of Rajya Sainik Board, reiterated the commitment to ensuring a smooth transition and sustainable livelihood for veterans.
Maj Gen Singh emphasized the importance of bridging the gap between ex-servicemen’s skills and industry demands. The positive response from both companies and veterans showcased the success of such initiatives in enhancing post-retirement career opportunities. The Job Fair concluded with ex-servicemen securing immediate job offers, marking a significant step towards their successful civilian career transitions.
