Did you know that the character of Robbie in Karan Johar’s ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’ was initially offered to John Abraham? However, John politely declined the role. During an appearance on ‘Koffee With Karan’, John reminded Karan Johar of the first movie offer he received from him. Karan had sincerely offered him the role, describing it as a lovely one.
Explaining his decision, Karan shared that he initially thought John would be more suitable for a role with less screen time and fewer lines. He had seen John at Gladrags and believed he was better suited for the ramp than the screen. Karan admitted that he didn’t believe John would excel in acting and even apologized for not having faith in him earlier.
The role of Robbie eventually went to actor Vikas Sethi in the movie. ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’, directed by Karan Johar and produced by Yash Johar under Dharma Productions, boasts an ensemble cast including Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Hrithik Roshan, Kareena Kapoor, and Rani Mukerji in a guest appearance. The film, released on 14 December 2001, was a major success in Indian cinema.
