Top young players from various states and organizations have gathered at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Stadium in Gunjur, Bengaluru, for the 44th Junior National Kho Kho Championship. The event kicked off with an action-packed first day featuring around 40 matches in both girls’ and boys’ categories. The championship, operating on a League-cum-knockout basis, will culminate with semifinals on January 3 and finals on January 4.

Around 1000 athletes are actively participating in the Junior nationals, supported by 180 staff members and 100 technical officials to ensure the smooth running of the championship. The inaugural ceremony was graced by former Minister H. He emphasized the unique opportunity for young athletes to interact and learn from each other during the championship. Lokeshwara, President of Karnataka State Kho Kho Association, expressed optimism about the future of these young talents, emphasizing the provision of top-notch training, facilities, and support.

Upkar Singh Virk, General Secretary of KKFI, underscored the significance of the Junior Nationals as a platform to identify and nurture young talents in the sport.
