Stalwart playback singer K. S. Chithra recently posted a touching tribute to her late daughter. In the heartfelt message accompanying a photo of her daughter, Chithra expressed the enduring pain of her absence. Nandana, Chithra’s only child born in 2002 after years of marriage, tragically passed away in a drowning incident in Dubai in 2011.
Reflecting on her profound loss, Chithra highlighted the role of spirituality and music in helping her navigate the grief. Despite the personal tragedy, she remained committed to her musical career, spanning over four decades and encompassing more than 25,000 songs in various languages. Known as the “Nightingale of South India,” Chithra has collaborated with renowned composers and received accolades such as National Film Awards and the Padma Bhushan.
