Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K. T. Rama Rao has written an open letter to Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, requesting budget allocations for fulfilling Congress’ poll promises in the state. Rao highlighted that despite the Congress being in power for almost half of its term, 95 percent of the promises remain unfulfilled. He emphasized the urgency, stating that no allocations were made in the two previous budgets, leading to growing impatience among the people of Telangana.
Rao specifically mentioned that the Congress had made six guarantees but failed to implement them upon assuming power. He urged for substantial funds to be allocated in the upcoming budget for fulfilling promises related to women, senior citizens, students, youth, and farmers. Additionally, he called for allocations to Backward Classes, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Minorities in alignment with Congress’ commitments.
Expressing disappointment over the Congress reneging on promises to marginalized communities, Rao demanded immediate budgetary allocations. He warned of mounting pressure from BRS if the promises are not addressed this time. Rao vowed to hold the government accountable and expose any failures in fulfilling commitments to the public.
Rao reminded the Chief Minister of the unmet promises from the 2023 Assembly elections, including monthly pensions for widows and senior citizens, financial aid for women, and support for farmers. He stressed that the Congress’ pledges, such as job creation initiatives and unemployment benefits, have remained unfulfilled for two years. Rao urged the government to allocate resources in the budget to honor these commitments.
