Actor and self-proclaimed critic Kamaal R. Khan, who was arrested in connection with a firing incident in Mumbai’s Oshiwara area, has been released on bail upon a personal bond of Rs 25,000. His lawyer argued that the arrest was unlawful and lacked proper notification as required by law. KRK claimed that his critiques of the film industry have made him a target for revenge.
KRK’s lawyer stated that an unidentified individual fired shots at two separate flats, with the incident occurring 400 meters apart and the weapon having a range of 20 meters. KRK denied any involvement, attributing the attack to his criticisms on social media. Despite being initially remanded to police custody, KRK maintains his innocence, asserting that the film industry is unfairly targeting him.
Mumbai Police arrested KRK following a shooting incident on January 18, 2026, in Andheri’s Oshiwara area. Investigations revealed bullet impacts on a residential building, allegedly originating from KRK’s nearby property. During interrogation, KRK admitted to firing the shots unintentionally while testing his licensed firearm. No injuries were reported in the incident, and the motive behind the shooting remains unclear.
