Union Home Minister Amit Shah, accompanied by his family, including son Jay Shah, who serves as the chairman of the International Cricket Council, attended the event. Legendary cricketers MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma jointly displayed the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup trophy, evoking a jubilant response from the enthusiastic audience.
The crowd erupted in cheers as Dhoni and Rohit presented the gleaming silverware. Dhoni, the 2007 World Cup-winning captain, and Rohit, who led the team to victory in 2024, shared the iconic trophy. Alongside Dhoni and Rohit, ICC chairman Jay Shah and JioStar vice-chairman Uday Shankar also showcased the trophy before the national anthems were played.
Renowned playback singer Kavitha Krishnamurthy delivered a powerful rendition of the Indian national anthem. In the final match, New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner won the toss and opted to bowl first against defending champions India. The Blackcaps made a change by including pacer Jacob Duffy in place of off-spin bowling all-rounder Cole McConchie.
The pre-final ceremony featured a performance by global pop star Ricky Martin, who entertained the crowd with his popular hits. Indian artists Sukhbir Singh and Falguni Pathak also graced the closing ceremony with their vibrant performances.
