Karnataka BJP President and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra expressed concern over the significant drop in Lok Sabha seats held by the Congress party, from 415 to 99 in the 2024 general elections. Vijayendra highlighted the need for the Congress to reflect on the reasons behind this decline. Drawing parallels to the Ramayana, he accused the Congress of exploiting Mahatma Gandhi’s name for political gain.
Vijayendra criticized the Congress for failing to fulfill its promises, such as eradicating poverty through initiatives like ‘Garibi Hatao’. He emphasized that the party’s dwindling position nationally and at the state level necessitates introspection. Referring to historical data, he pointed out the substantial decrease in the Congress’ parliamentary representation over the years.
The BJP leader highlighted the shift in public discourse towards corruption-free governance under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. Vijayendra credited the current government for focusing on development and emphasized the significant investments made in infrastructure, national security, and job creation. He commended the Modi-led administration for its efforts in promoting employment through policies that have fostered the growth of startups and generated direct employment opportunities.
Vijayendra underscored the improvements in access to drinking water and sanitation under the current government, contrasting it with the Congress’ track record. He also praised the allocation of substantial funds for infrastructure development in Northeastern states, emphasizing the government’s commitment to enhancing national security. The BJP leader asserted that the government’s initiatives have effectively addressed issues like Naxalism, leading to a significant reduction in Maoist violence across the country.
