Karnataka BJP President and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi for reducing excise duty on petrol and diesel by Rs 10, stating that this decision benefits the common people. He expressed appreciation for the move during a time of global conflict, lauding PM Modi and the Union Petroleum Minister on behalf of the state and the country. Vijayendra criticized the Congress government in Karnataka for spending three years criticizing the Central government instead of focusing on people’s welfare.
Vijayendra highlighted the relief brought to Indian citizens by the Centre’s decision to lower excise duty, contrasting it with the higher burdens faced by people in countries like the United States and Australia. He accused the Congress of deflecting its failures by blaming others and emphasized the need for the Chief Minister and his colleagues to acknowledge PM Modi’s pro-people stance. The BJP President also disapproved of politicians demanding IPL tickets, stressing the importance of elected representatives not being perceived as VIPs.
When questioned about JD(S) leaders participating in nomination filing in Davanagere and Bagalkot, Vijayendra mentioned speaking with former Chief Minister and Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, who indicated availability after April 1. He underscored the importance of elected representatives maintaining a connection with the common people and avoiding a sense of elitism.
