Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s ninth Budget, aimed at Aatmanirbhar Bharat, has garnered widespread acclaim. Vijayendra praised the shift towards clarity and reform in the Budget, prioritizing public interest over populism. Sectors like industry, tourism, semiconductors, AI, and agriculture were lauded for receiving attention.
The Budget’s focus on fiscal discipline, with a reduced fiscal deficit of 4.4%, showcases a commitment to sound economic management. Vijayendra appreciated the benefits extended to sectors like coconut, cashew, cocoa, fisheries, and sandalwood in Karnataka. He also highlighted the increase in the state’s share of central taxes, resulting in substantial additional revenue.
Allocations for infrastructure development have seen significant growth, with a revolutionary decision to increase funding. Higher investments in roads, railways, ports, and airports are expected to accelerate the country’s development. The Budget’s initiatives towards doubling farmers’ income and supporting sectors like food, commerce, and fisheries were noted for their importance.
Promotion of women entrepreneurship, education, and employment were highlighted as key aspects of the Budget. The announcement of high-speed rail corridors, especially in Bengaluru, is expected to attract more industries. The Budget’s focus on youth, women, and farmers aligns with the vision of a developed India.
