Karnataka BJP President and MLA B. Y. Vijayendra visited the home of the defeated BJP candidate Srinivas T Dasakariyappa in Davanagere district to review the loss and boost morale. The defeated candidate lost by a narrow margin of 5,708 votes to the Congress candidate, Samarth Mallikarjun, in the Davanagere South segment. Vijayendra expressed confidence in the party’s resurgence in Davanagere during discussions with district BJP leaders.

Vijayendra commended the voters and party workers for securing 63,000 votes, acknowledging the challenges faced by ordinary party workers in achieving such results. He encouraged them to stay positive, emphasizing that everything happens for a reason. During the visit, Vijayendra also shared a meal with Srinivas Dasakariyappa and offered consolation as emotions ran high.

Reflecting on the by-election results, Vijayendra noted the high expectations and the usual favorability of by-elections towards the ruling party. He praised the dedication of party workers in both constituencies and highlighted the efforts put forth by their candidate in Davanagere South. Looking ahead, Vijayendra expressed confidence in the BJP’s prospects in West Bengal and the state elections in 2028, drawing inspiration from his father, former CM B.S. Yediyurappa’s resolve in facing challenges.

Vijayendra affirmed the party’s commitment to regaining power and criticized the alleged monetary influence by the Congress without commenting directly on it. He underscored the importance of party unity and strategic planning, citing the Gruhalaxmi scheme’s impact on elections. Despite the current political landscape, he reiterated the BJP’s determination to return to power, drawing parallels to past successes and emphasizing the party’s future goals.
