Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah highlighted the government’s welfare schemes as a form of development during the inauguration of a bridge in Chikkamagaluru. He emphasized that despite expenses on these schemes, the state’s financial status surpasses that of the Centre. The Chief Minister inaugurated projects worth Rs 36 crore, including the new bridge, and criticized the opposition for alleging a lack of funds for development.
Siddaramaiah underscored the importance of constitutional ideals, aiming for an equitable society as envisioned by the Constitution. He mentioned B. R. Ambedkar’s emphasis on the necessity of economic, social, and educational freedom alongside political freedom for success. The Chief Minister also highlighted regional development, noting the historical significance of Narasimharajapura.
Accusing the Centre of neglecting Karnataka, Siddaramaiah criticized the delay in releasing funds for the Bhadra Upper Canal Project. He defended the state government’s expenditure on guarantee schemes, stating Karnataka’s financial position is stronger than the Centre’s. Siddaramaiah also pointed out the state’s higher economic growth compared to the national average and accused the BJP of duplicating Congress’s initiatives in other states.
