Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar assured senior Minister Ramalinga Reddy of the Bengaluru Development portfolio once he assumes the role. However, Shivakumar clarified that the final decision on portfolio allocation lies with the party’s high command.
Addressing Reddy’s resignation from the ministerial post, Shivakumar acknowledged his commitment to allocate the Bengaluru Development portfolio to Reddy. Despite his efforts, the party high command has assigned the portfolio to Krishna Byre Gowda.
Shivakumar emphasized the importance of the Water Resources ministry, noting Reddy’s preference for a Bengaluru-centric role due to his political roots in the city. He highlighted the necessity for decisions to align with the party leadership’s directives rather than individual preferences.
Confirming his intention to meet Reddy personally to address the issue, Shivakumar recalled past instances where portfolio responsibilities were reallocated. He mentioned efforts to persuade Reddy during previous portfolio allocations and expressed readiness to resolve the current situation.
