The power struggle within Karnataka’s ruling Congress party seems to be intensifying, as Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar emphasized that he and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah are aligned with their discussed plans. This alignment has sparked fresh speculation within the party. Shivakumar urged party leaders to avoid making divisive statements, particularly alluding to remarks made by CM Siddaramaiah’s son, Yathindra, regarding the Chief Minister’s tenure.
Addressing the media in Bengaluru before heading to Delhi, Shivakumar clarified the situation within the party, stating that there is no confusion between him and Siddaramaiah regarding their discussions. In response to questions about loyalist MLA Iqbal Hussain’s comments on leadership issues, Shivakumar deferred to the high command for clarification. He stressed the importance of party unity and echoed AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge’s call for leaders to avoid making public statements that could harm the party’s interests.
