Responding to viral videos allegedly showing inappropriate conduct with a woman in his office while in uniform, Karnataka’s Director General of Police K. Ramachandra Rao dismissed the footage as manipulated. Rao, addressing the media in Bengaluru, stated that no such incident occurred and plans to consult his lawyer regarding the matter. The Chief Minister has requested a report from the Home Department following the emergence of the videos.
DGP Rao visited the Home Minister’s office to provide clarification on the issue, but was unable to meet with the Minister as conveyed by a staff member. This development comes after the state government faced previous embarrassment over accusations against Rao in a gold smuggling case. The videos, which have caused significant concern, depict Rao engaging in intimate behavior with a woman inside his official chamber.
The footage, recorded over a year ago, captures Rao in uniform engaging in inappropriate behavior with the woman. The videos, reportedly taken from CCTV footage within his office, have been shared on social media platforms. Former Home Minister Araga Jnanendra expressed strong disapproval of Rao’s actions, emphasizing the importance of senior officers serving as role models and calling for appropriate action to be taken.
