The Karnataka Lokayukta conducted simultaneous raids on government officials’ residences and offices in multiple districts of Karnataka due to corruption allegations and suspected disproportionate assets. The operations took place in Bagalkote, Vijayapura, Karwar, and Raichur districts, targeting various officials. In Bagalkote, raids were carried out at the residences of the Project Director of the District Rural Development Agency and an Assistant Director in the Agriculture Department.
In Karwar, the Lokayukta officials searched the residence of the Chief Executive Officer at Siddapur, examining relevant documents. Meanwhile, in Raichur, inspections were conducted at the residence of a retired woman Assistant Engineer as part of the ongoing anti-corruption investigation. The raids are ongoing, and more details on seized items and findings are expected to emerge.
Previously, the Karnataka Lokayukta had conducted similar raids in different districts, including Mandya, Bidar, Mysuru, Dharwad, Haveri, Bengaluru, Shivamogga, and Davanagere. The anti-corruption agency also targeted six Regional Transport Offices in Bengaluru earlier, uncovering irregularities. Notably, raids in the past have led to significant seizures and investigations into officials accused of amassing disproportionate assets.
