Karnataka’s Minister for Planning and Statistics, D. Sudhakar, aged 66, passed away at KIMS Hospital in Bengaluru early on Sunday. He had been receiving treatment in the ICU for a month. Hospital authorities confirmed his death at 3.15 a.m.
In an official statement, the Medical Director of KIMS, Dr. R. Chinnadurai, announced Minister Sudhakar’s passing at Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences in Electronic City. Sudhakar, also the Chitradurga District In-Charge Minister, had a close association with Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar.
Dr. Pavan Yadav M. V., Clinical Director at KIMS, previously mentioned that Sudhakar was on full life support following complications from a lung infection. Despite preparations for a lung transplantation, he succumbed before the procedure could take place.
D. Sudhakar, a four-time MLA, was known for his service to the people, especially during the drought in Chitradurga district. Survived by his wife, son, and daughter, he had a long-standing political career, serving in various capacities within the Karnataka government.
Deputy Chief Minister Shivakumar expressed deep sorrow over Sudhakar’s demise, highlighting his contributions to public service. Leader of the Opposition in the Karnataka Assembly, R. Ashoka, also offered condolences, acknowledging Sudhakar’s role as Minister for Planning and Statistics.
