Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar revealed plans for a new ‘Praja Seva Department’ to handle public complaints and civic issues. This initiative aims to promptly address citizens’ concerns within the legal framework. The department will have a dedicated minister overseeing its operations.
The state government is considering bringing petitions addressed to the Chief Minister and other ministers under the purview of this new department. District ministers will hold weekly grievance meetings with local legislators to address public issues. The Cabinet also approved granting electricity connections to buildings completed before May 31, 2026.
In a move to improve healthcare infrastructure, a 200-bed super-speciality hospital will be built at the Yadgir Institute of Medical Sciences. Additionally, the government sanctioned funds for civil works projects at the Karwar Institute of Medical Sciences and for medical equipment at the Bengaluru Medical Research Institute Hospital. The purchase of new buses and the establishment of electric bus depots were also approved.
To support students preparing for competitive exams, funds were allocated for the construction of Karnataka Bhavan-IV in New Delhi. These developments reflect the government’s commitment to enhancing public services and infrastructure across various sectors.
