Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan stated that a CBI investigation into the Sabarimala gold heist case is unnecessary at this point. He emphasized that the ongoing investigation led by a High Court-monitored Special Investigation Team (SIT) is progressing well and has public trust.
Vijayan clarified that the probe is under the strict oversight of the Kerala High Court, ensuring effective functioning of the SIT. He dismissed claims of political interference, highlighting that the government has no role in determining who the SIT questions during the investigation.
The Chief Minister addressed concerns related to a controversial photo linked to the case, involving Congress MPs and a jeweler. He emphasized the need for answers on how these individuals had access to Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, emphasizing the government’s transparency and non-involvement in the inquiry.
Responding to criticism from SNDP Yogam General Secretary Vellappally Natesan about the CPI’s trustworthiness, Vijayan defended the CPI-M’s strong alliance with the CPI, asserting unity within the Left Democratic Front (LDF).
