Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has written to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman requesting a judicial inquiry into the unnatural death of C.J. Roy during an Income Tax search operation. Roy, a prominent real estate developer, allegedly shot himself at his Bengaluru office on January 30, sparking shock and questions.
Vijayan expressed concern over the lack of diligence leading to Roy’s tragic demise. He highlighted the need for caution in such actions and emphasized the importance of respecting the rights of individuals being searched. The Chief Minister raised questions about the circumstances that allowed Roy to access a gun and take his own life during the search operation.
The letter also mentioned the reported grievances of Roy’s family, including allegations of harassment by tax officials. Vijayan stressed the importance of a thorough investigation to prevent similar incidents in the future. He called for a judicial inquiry, led by an experienced judge, to ensure transparency and address the wider aspects of the case.
