Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan responded strongly to Congress accusations of his party’s covert ties with the BJP in specific constituencies ahead of the Assembly elections. The allegations, led by Leader of the Opposition V. D. Satheesan and other senior Congress members, claim a secret agreement between the CPI-M-led LDF and the BJP in about 10 constituencies in Kerala. Vijayan, through a forceful Facebook post, highlighted Satheesan’s past connections to the RSS, questioning his involvement in an RSS-organized event in 2006.
Vijayan raised concerns about Satheesan’s attendance at an event honoring M.S. Golwalkar, the second Sarsanghchalak of the RSS, just before the 2006 Assembly elections. He pointed out Satheesan’s alleged request for RSS support during previous elections, emphasizing the need for clarity on these matters. The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of transparency, especially in a secular state like Kerala, urging Satheesan to explain his actions and any potential agreements in Paravur in 2006.
Vijayan’s remarks aimed to address the timing and political implications of Satheesan’s past interactions with the RSS, underscoring the need for accountability in public office. He highlighted the significance of these revelations in the context of ongoing political debates and the upcoming elections, urging Satheesan to provide a clear response to the allegations raised against him.
