The Kerala Chief Minister’s office dismissed claims by Congress MP Adoor Prakash that reports of the Special Investigation Team summoning him in the Sabarimala gold theft case were fabricated. The office clarified that the SIT operates under the Kerala High Court’s supervision, with reports directly submitted to the court and strict directives against disclosing case details.
Leader of the Opposition, V. D. Satheesan, raised questions regarding the summoning narrative, pointing out the secrecy around Kadakampally Surendran’s questioning while news circulated about Prakash. Satheesan emphasized that if summoned, Prakash would cooperate, highlighting past allegations against CPI(M) leaders in the Devaswom Board.
Prakash stated that if served a notice by the SIT, he would inform the media and comply, expressing his lack of involvement in the case. The Sabarimala gold theft case, uncovering significant theft from sacred sites, remains politically charged. The ongoing court-monitored probe by the SIT is expected to continue with further reports and questioning.
