AICC general secretary K. C. Venugopal criticized Kerala for lagging behind its neighbors in attracting industries, stating that while other states focus on car manufacturing and technology investments, Kerala is celebrating the launch of a new brandy. Venugopal addressed a protest led by Mahila Congress State president Jebi Mather, highlighting public discontent over economic challenges and rising prices.
Venugopal directly blamed Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan for the state’s lack of industrial growth and job opportunities, contrasting Kerala’s approach with that of neighboring states. He emphasized the need for effective market interventions to address inflation, citing the previous government’s initiatives to stabilize prices through subsidies on essential commodities.
The Congress leader underscored the current government’s failure to curb inflation and its decision to impose additional taxes on petrol and diesel, burdening the public further. Venugopal pledged that a UDF government, if elected, would implement measures to tackle price hikes and restore economic stability in Kerala. As the 15th Kerala Legislative Assembly concluded, preparations for the upcoming assembly polls are underway.
