Kerala’s Leader of the Opposition V.D. Satheesan criticized the ruling CPI-M-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) for allegedly using government funds for election campaign activities, calling it “unacceptable and unethical.” Satheesan warned of legal action to recover public money he claims was diverted for partisan purposes.
He accused the Public Relations Department under Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan of organizing a government-funded quiz competition close to the elections, where children were prompted to answer “Pinarayi Vijayan” to every question. Satheesan described this as a misuse of state resources for electioneering, labeling it a “shameful program” unprecedented in Kerala.
Satheesan demanded the immediate withdrawal of the program, emphasizing that political parties should use their own resources for campaigns. He vowed that the UDF would take legal action to ensure the recovery of funds allegedly used for the CPI-M’s election campaign, warning that officials involved would face consequences.
