Kolkata Police have released a traffic advisory in preparation for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s attendance at the International Yoga Day event in the city on June 21. Red Road will be closed for a week due to this event. Commuters are advised to plan their routes accordingly and adhere to traffic regulations.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Kolkata on June 21 to participate in the World Yoga Day celebration. The main event will take place on Red Road, involving the entire city in the program.
To facilitate preparations for Prime Minister Modi’s event, Red Road, one of Kolkata’s busiest roads, will be shut down for a week. The construction of a temporary stage has already commenced for the grand occasion.
In line with the advisory, various traffic restrictions will be imposed, including the restriction of Goods Vehicles along specific routes from the early hours of June 21 until the event concludes. Guru Nanak Sarani (Mayo Road) will also be closed to general traffic during this period, except for vehicles with special event stickers.
Several roads, including Hospital Road East, Lovers Lane, and Plassey Gate Road, will be closed to traffic from 2 a.m. on June 21 until the event concludes. These measures are being implemented to ensure the smooth conduct of Prime Minister Modi’s program.
