Kolkata Police issued a warning against sharing fake or unrelated posts on social media following the West Bengal Assembly election results. The police stated that they are closely monitoring social media content and will take legal action against those spreading misinformation to disrupt public peace. They emphasized that the situation in Kolkata is under control and urged citizens not to share unverified posts.

Several photos and videos circulating on social media claimed incidents of violence in Kolkata after the election results. The BJP emerged victorious in the state, winning 207 seats in the 294-seat Assembly, leading to a change in power. Security outside Mamata Banerjee’s residence was reduced after the BJP’s win, although she has not yet resigned as Chief Minister despite her party’s electoral defeat.
