The Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) revealed that D.K. Shivakumar will be sworn in as the next Chief Minister of Karnataka on June 3 at the Glass House in Lok Bhavan. The decision was made to keep the event simple and avoid inconveniencing the public. The announcement preceded the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting set to commence on Saturday at 4 p.m.
Addressing a joint emergency press conference, KPCC Working President G.C. Chandrashekar emphasized the popularity of welfare guarantee schemes initiated under Siddaramaiah’s leadership. He expressed the party’s desire for Shivakumar to continue these initiatives and maintain a focus on public service. Chandrashekar clarified that the swearing-in ceremony for Shivakumar will be a modest affair at the Glass House in Raj Bhavan on June 3, dismissing media speculation.
Chandrashekar disclosed that plans for nearly 1,000 buses to transport supporters to Bengaluru were scrapped due to the working day schedule on June 3. The party opted for a low-key ceremony to demonstrate its dedication to public service. He urged Congress workers and Shivakumar’s supporters statewide to refrain from traveling to Bengaluru for the event to prevent disruptions and ensure a smooth ceremony.
After the oath-taking, Shivakumar intends to tour Karnataka, meeting party members and the public in various districts. Chandrashekar stressed that no passes would be issued for the event, emphasizing the importance of maintaining order and avoiding disturbances. The party anticipates Shivakumar continuing the welfare programs initiated during Siddaramaiah’s tenure, aiming for a seamless transition in governance.
