Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President B.K. Hariprasad emphasized the importance of focusing on strengthening the party rather than pursuing positions of power. He expressed openness to collaborating with those dedicated to building the party structure, contrasting them with individuals seeking authority by aligning with Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar. Hariprasad’s statements, made after meeting Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwara in Bengaluru, are anticipated to spark debate.
Hariprasad highlighted the distinction between those aspiring for power, whom he suggested should align with D.K. Shivakumar, and those committed to organizing and fortifying the party, whom he welcomed to work alongside him. He assured party workers of his support and emphasized the need for unity in advancing the party’s objectives. The KPCC President also referenced national leaders such as Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi, underscoring their efforts to strengthen the organization.
Stressing the importance of supporting the party’s organizational goals, Hariprasad reiterated his stance that individuals inclined towards power should associate with D.K. Shivakumar, while those prioritizing party strengthening should align with him. He clarified that his statements were devoid of hidden meanings and should be interpreted within the framework of organizational responsibilities. Hariprasad pledged to expedite the party’s organizational work and assured party members of his unwavering support in all circumstances.
The remarks are believed to target former ministers engaged in intense lobbying for cabinet positions in the Shivakumar government. In a separate development, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister G. Parameshwara visited B.K. Hariprasad, the newly appointed President of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee, at his Sadashivanagar residence to extend congratulations.
